• Do not pour greases, fats, or oils down drains
• Do not use your garbage disposal for meat bones, coffee grounds or foods that aren’t biodegradable
• Do not dispose of paint or household chemicals in drains
• Do not dispose of any automobile fluids down any drain
• Do not rinse pesticides, herbicides, or other toxins down drains as you can kill the beneficial bacteria in your septic system
• Do not dispose of any non-biodegradable items in your toilet (cigarette butts, disposable diapers, feminine hygiene products)
• Do not let water run while washing dishes and thawing foods and limit your flushes
• Do not run half loads in the dishwasher or washing machine and be sure to stagger wash loads
• Do not use chemicals to clean up your septic system
• Do not attach clean water sources such as footing or sump pumps to your septic system
